Bristol Police: Domestic strangulation, needle on the road

The Bristol Police Department responded to the following calls between March 30 and April 6:

Monday, March 30

A hypodermic needle was found at the end of a driveway on Wapping Drive. Officers removed the needle around 8 a.m.

A caller reported finding a dead animal at Bay View and Monroe avenues at 9 a.m. Officers responded, finding the “dead animal” was actually discarded garbage.

There were, however, two deceased animals found Monday morning, on Mt. Hope Avenue and Metacom Avenue just north of Griswold.

Thomas A. Aitkens, 41, of 15 Massasoit Ave., Apt. 26, Bristol, was cited for driving without a license.

A homeowner on Wood Street called police after finding an unknown woman living in the basement of the house. Police issued the woman a no trespass order.

Tyler Houston, 20, of 51 Ansonia Ave., Bristol, was charged with driving with a suspended license on Hopeworth Avenue.

A resident on Dewolf Avenue called at 8:45 p.m. to report a suspicious man walking in front of his house talking on a cell phone for “quite a few hours.” Police investigated, learning the man was not suspicious, but lived in the neighborhood and tended to walk outside when talking on the phone.

Tuesday, March 31

A woman reportedly fell down on High Street just before 10 a.m. She did not suffer serious injured an declined rescue service.

Police responded to a narcotics report at Mt. Hope High School around 11 a.m. There was no arrest made.

Kyle Mitchell, 22, of 309 Canonicus St., Apt. B, Tiverton, was charged with violating a no contact order.

Wednesday, April 1

A resident on Bay View Avenue complained of a loud group of people on a neighbor’s front port at 12:30 a.m. Police advised the group to keep it down.

There was a report of vandalism at the Audubon Society building, but police could not find any damage.

A caller at Metacom Avenue and Franklin street reported her daughter witnessed a man kick a wild turkey, which was injured on the side of the road. Animal control officers responded, finding the turkey was not hurt.

A man and woman were reportedly walking through Gooding Plaza at Hope Street and Gooding Avenue carrying a hatchet just before 4 p.m.

A caller reported a sink hole beginning near a catch basin in front of his home on Valley Drive.

Daniel John Thompson, 18, of 332 Hubbard Road, Higganum, Conn., was charged with disorderly conduct and possession of an alcoholic beverage at Jacky’d Galaxie restaurant. He was also cited for possession of marijuana.

Robert E. New, 18, of 139 Alfred Drive, Pittsfield, Mass., was charged with disorderly conduct and possession of an alcoholic beverage while riding in a motor vehicle.

Thursday, April 2

A loud generator was reportedly running around 4 a.m. on Hopeworth Avenue, and had been for a couple consecutive mornings. Police found the generator is running a self-test at the same time each morning. A service technician was notified.

A resident on Highview Avenue reported a suspicious gray car was parked in front of the home just after noon. The car belonged to a private investigator working a case.

A resident on Magnolia Street called police to report her husband was drunk and left the house with his sister around 5 p.m. Officers filed the report.

Dominic Cirillo, 20, of 202 Old Washington St., Pembroke, Mass., was charged with underage possession of alcohol.

Christian M. Spina, 22, of 1 Jenny Lane, Bristol, was charged with possession of narcotics on the Town Common around 9 p.m. He was also arrested on a warrant.

Friday, April 3

Police responded to a noise complaint on High Street at 4 a.m. The residents were advised to keep it down.

A caller on Dimond Avenue reported she found her windshield was cracked when she went out at 11 a.m. There was no police action required.

A customer at Pick ‘N Pay Food Mart on Hope Street called police when a cashier would not give her a refund. Officers determined it was a civil matter.

A resident on Wood Street reported a car was parked blocking his driveway. The car was gone when police arrived.

Saturday, April 4

Thaddeus Iiams, 43, of 26 Sowams Drive, Bristol, was charged with possession of narcotics just after midnight on Sowams Drive.

Frankarlo Quinones, 24, of 314 Hope St., Apt. 7, Bristol, was arrested on an affidavit warrant issued by the North Providence Police for a charge of domestic cyberstalking.

A caller at the Town Beach on Asylum Road reported a man was digging holes in a field next to the beach at 9:30 a.m. He was gone when police arrived.

Officers helped a man at the Hope Diner on Hope Street who had misplaced his car. He had forgotten which car he drove.

A man called police from the Dunkin Donuts on Gooding Avenue because he overheard someone talking about him at the Dollar Store in Warren. There was no police action required.

David W. Perry, 40, of 196 Market St., Warren, was cited for driving without a license on Hope Street just after noon.

Louis S. Viera, 63, of 212 Wood St., Bristol, was charged with driving with a suspended license.

Sunday, April 5

A car windshield on High Street was reportedly vandalized sometime overnight.

A RIPTA bus driver called police after having to pull over because of an unruly passenger. The bus dropped the passenger off at Franklin and Hope streets.

A pig was reportedly on the loose on Chestnut Street around 1:15 p.m. Police were unable to find the pig.

Michael Woods, 44, of 23458 Wilderness Oak, Apt. 7406, San Antonio, Texas, was charged with domestic assault by strangulation and domestic simple assault. He was allegedly seen hitting a woman at Paine Avenue and Narrows Road around 3 p.m., according to reports.

James Paul Hunt, 33, of 1300 W. Martin St., San Antonio, Texas, was arrested on a 6th District Court bench warrant.

A man wearing a black sweatshirt was reportedly looking through windows of houses on Wood Street. Police could not find the man.

Rachel A. Magers, 20, of 9 Second St., Bristol, was charged with disorderly conduct.

A resident of the Francis Street apartments reported a neighbor broke into his home and stole prescription medication. There was no arrest made.
