PORTSMOUTH — Here are some highlights from the Portsmouth police reports from over the past week.
Thursday, Sept. 17
Nickia T. Johnson, 19, of 110 Vandewater St., Providence, was charged with larceny of under $1,500 at about 2 p.m. The charges stem from an incident in July, when Ms. Johnson was accused of stealing $100 in tip money from a residence at Carnegie Heights that she helped clean. A warrant was placed for her arrest and on Sept. 17, R.I. State Police informed Portsmouth they had Ms. Johnson in custody.
Amanda M. Ruzzo, 27 of 2749 East Main Road, Apt. 2, was charged with domestic assault and battery, her third offense., at 11:24 p.m. Police responded to Clements’ Marketplace at 10:35 p.m. after a man called to complain that a woman was chasing him through the parking lot and had slapped him. The man told police he lived with Ms. Ruzzo and had left the home after they got into an argument. She followed him to the store, where the alleged assault took place, police said. According to police, there was minor scratching and redness to the right side of the man’s neck.
Friday, Sept. 18
Kyle R. Demello, 22, of 33 Long Shore Road, was charged with domestic disorderly conduct at 6:10 p.m., shortly after police responded to the Island Child Care Center, 3044 East Main Road, for a report of a man with a firearm. Police said Mr. Demello had gotten into an argument with a Portsmouth woman, which prompted workers from the child care center and Rite-Aid to call 911. Police later found Mr. Demello at an East Main Road home, and took him into custody. The firearm he was carrying was in fact a pellet gun, police said.
