Barrington police and rescue personnel may have helped save a life when they responded to a local home on Friday, Sept. 18 at about 5:30 p.m. for a medical emergency.
According to police, the elderly female homeowner was concerned about her middle-age son — she said he had gone into the bathroom to take a shower, but was not responding to her shouts.
Officials tried to speak to the man through the door, but could only hear labored breathing and gurgling sounds coming from the bathroom.
Officials forced open the door and found the man lying naked on the floor unconscious. It appeared he had vomited. He was gurgling and struggling to breathe.
Rescue personnel transported quickly the man to the hospital for treatment.
