The following report is compiled from the Bristol Police Department call log for the week of Aug. 13-18, 2013.
Tuesday, Aug. 13
Police responded to a Metacom Avenue home at 3:14 a.m. for a well-being check on a female. Police encountered a male, who told officers he found Katarzyna Finch, of 721 Metacom Ave., Bristol, seated at his kitchen table when he turned the light on. He told police she was holding a steak knife. He immediately called police and went to another residence. Police then found Ms. Finch asleep and she was asked to step outside. She then allegedly became combative with police and rescue personnel. She was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Police responded to a home on Violet Court for a town ordinance violation. A refrigerator was left on the side of the road with the doors attached.
A teen was seen driving a scooter up and down Sefton Road, speeding.
A Greenway Drive resident reported they were being harassed via Twitter.
A Francesca Drive resident wanted to speak with police about his wife changing the locks on the house.
Wednesday, Aug. 14
Police responded to an area of Hope Street for a bus that pulled over because a female was causing a disturbance. She wasn’t feeling well, and Bristol Rescue was dispatched.
A Franklin Street resident reported that his neighbor called to tell him that the landlord broke into his home and destroyed his furnishings.
Animal control responded to an area of Union Street for a report of a loose dog.
Police were called to an area of State and Rock streets for a report that children were playing in the street, hiding behind cars and darting across the street. They were gone when the police got there.
Police responded to a Richmond Street home for a report that female was trying to move out and her father, whom she said was intoxicated, was giving her a hard time.
Thursday, Aug. 15
Police were called to St. Michael’s Church on Hope Street because a male was sleeping on the church steps. He was gone when police arrived.
A Metacom Avenue resident asked to speak to police regarding his ex-wife.
Police were called to a home on Sousa Street for a report of loud music. It was coming from a garage on Sousa Street and police determined that it was not audible past the residence, and was not amplified.
A caller reported that someone was golfing on the athletic field at Mt. Hope High School.
A Sherman Avenue resident reported that a neighbor was harassing his 8-year-old daughter.
Animal control responded to an area of Church and Hope streets for a report of an injured seagull.
A caller reported that there was a suspicious plastic bag in the side of the road in front of Benny’s Home and Auto Store. Animal control was called because it contained the remains of a dead woodchuck.
Police arrested Jason W. Almeida, 37, of 173 Bradford St., Bristol, on charges of domestic vandalism/destruction of property. Mr. Almeida’s girlfriend called police to report that her boyfriend allegedly cut a screen on a window of her apartment following an argument the two recently had. According to police, he admitted to cutting the screen, and was subsequently charged.
Police, the fire department and Bristol Rescue were called to an area of Metacom Avenue and Annawamscutt Drive for a car accident. A Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management law enforcement truck had struck a telephone pole.
A police officer stopped a car at Shell Food Mart on Metacom Avenue for loud music. The driver was told to turn it down.
Friday, Aug. 16
Marine rescue responded to an area near Hog Island for a reported overturned dinghy. It had broken loose from Prudence Island. It was recovered and returned.
A Roosevelt Drive resident called police to report there was broken glass and unknown liquid in the driveway. Police determined it was broken beer bottles.
A Doran Avenue resident reported that cats had been abandoned in her home.
A caller reported that children were playing unattended in a driveway on Metacom Avenue, close to the roadway.
Police, and Bristol Rescue responded to an area of Hope Street near Franklin Street for a car accident. A driver was traveling southbound on Hope Street when he crashed into a few parked cars to allegedly avoid a cat in the road.
Police responded to an area of Wood Street and Bayview Avenue for a report of loud music. A band was rehearsing inside a garage.
Saturday, Aug. 17
A caller reported that a male was walking on a bridge toward Bristol.
A Primrose Drive resident reported an injured skunk in their backyard.
The fire department responded to a home on Burton Street for a grill that caught fire.
Police responded to the Church Street Dock for a report of people trespassing on a boat.
Police arrested Matthew Robert Cinq-Mars, 43, of 19 Maple Ave., Seekonk, Mass., on an affidavit charge of cyber stalking, dating back to December 2012.
Sunday, Aug. 18
A caller reported that a male was talking loudly to a female on the phone near Bourne Street.
Police responded to a home on Easterbrooks Avenue at 1:49 a.m. for people speaking loudly on their back deck. They were asked to take it inside.
Police were called to Coelho Park for a female who was riding her moped.
A caller reported that a male was having a yard sale on Metacom Avenue and Francesca Lane, and was obstructing the sidewalk.
A caller reported that a person was selling items on the corner of Hope and State streets without a license.
Someone illegally dumped a mattress on St. Elizabeth Street.
Police were called to Seabra Supermarket for a reported disturbance. Witnesses told police that a man, identified as Kenneth Catalano, 66, of 1014 Hope St., Bristol, had attacked another man by allegedly striking him in the face. The man fell backward and hit his head. Witnesses also told police that the man had been standing in the roadway, impeding traffic, which is allegedly what caused the scuffle. Catalano was arrested on charges of assault on a person over 60.
Police were called to a Betsy Drive residence for a disorderly 17-year-old male.
