PORTSMOUTH — Here’s the police report for March 4 to 12:
Monday, March 4
Joseph J. Carney, 33, of 38 Sweet Fern Lane, Wakefield, was charged with driving with a suspended license and possession of marijuana after the car he was driving rear-ended a vehicle operated by Florizel Samuels of Newport, on West Main Road near Stringham Road at about 4:40 p.m., police said.
Thursday, March 7
Two Statue Way residents told police around 9 p.m. that a Fender bass guitar and a silver ring was missing from their home. They said a company hired by the landlord to do some work on the house had taken the items. The landlord told police, however, that he had no knowledge of the alleged theft.
Friday, March 8
Vehicles driven by Jane Magliocco, of 267 Middle Road, and Anne Coffey, of 86 Ethel Drive, collided on East Main Road near McCorrie Lane around 2:40 p.m. Both operators were transported by rescue workers to the hospital to be treated for complaints of pain.
Saturday, March 9
At about 3:30 p.m., Andrea Flynn told police the car she was driving hit a pothole at 2588 East Main Road, causing the front passenger tire rim to come off and bending it. The R.I. Department of Transportation (DOT) was notified and she was instructed to file a claim with the state. Ms. Flynn was driving south at the time.
Laura M. Toscano, 47, of 594 Aquidneck Ave., Middletown, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense), refusal to submit to a chemical test and possession of marijuana (first offense) after the vehicle she was driving was pulled over on Turnpike Avenue shortly before 7 p.m. Police said the vehicle was being operated erratically.
David G. Stebbins, 18, of 76 Thayer Drive, was charged with possession of marijuana (first offense) around 2:45 p.m. after a report of a suspicious car parked in the Carnegie Abbey Beach Club area. Mr. Stebbins was a passenger in the car, operated by a 16-year-old male, police said. A marijuana blunt was found in the car, said police.
Patrick M. Aylward, 39, of 9 Nancy St., Fall River, was charged with domestic assault shortly before 9 a.m. Police said the incident took place in a parking area in the Raytheon area.
Mark B. Hassan, 19, of 745 Union St., Portsmouth, was arrested for underage possession of alcohol after the car he was riding in was stopped shortly after midnight on Pheasant Drive. Police said the car was pulled over because none of the occupants were wearing seatbelts.
Sunday, March 10
At about 2:25 p.m., Jacob Dube told police that the vehicle he was driving was damaged due to a pothole he hit on East Main Road near Town Hall. He was driving north when his front passenger side tire drove over a large pothole, causing a flat tire. Mr. Dube said he wanted to document the incident to forward to DOT for a claim.
Samantha J Cianci, 22, of 310 Old Mill Lane, was charged with domestic vandalism with malicious injury to property and possession of marijuana (first offense) following an incident that took place around noontime at a Bayview Avenue residence. Police responded to the home but Ms. Cianci has left the scene in her car. After her car was stopped on Bristol Ferry Road, police said they found a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle.
Patrick A. Spero, 19, of 39 Cherokee Drive, was charged with underage possession of alcohol after the vehicle he was driving was pulled over on Hargraves Drive for a broken taillight.
Monday, March 11
Craig Kelly, 28, of 55 Felix St., Providence, was charged with shoplifting eight to 12 cases of Red Bull four-packs from CVS Pharmacy on Turnpike Avenue. The incident took place on Jan. 29, but Mr. Kelly fled before being identified. Barrington police, however, obtained a license plate for Mr. Kelly’s vehicle after he had stolen Red Bull and other items from a CVS in that town, police said.
Tuesday, March 12
Santasia T. Ford, 22, of 90 Girard Ave., Apt. 169, was arrested on a bench warrant issued from Second Division District Court. She was stopped for speeding on East Main Road at Stub Toe Lane around midnight.
Robinson D. Hogan, 30, of 21 Shore Drive, Warren, was arrested on separate warrants issued from Second Division District Court and Superior Court after the car he was driving was pulled over shortly before midnight on Boyd Lane because its rear plate light wasn’t working. The District Court warrant was for an obstruction charge, while the Superior Court warrant was related to a breaking-and-entering charge. Both charges originated from Newport.
Christian A. Monteiro, 31, of 1 Dubois St., was charged with domestic assault after he turned himself into headquarters around 6 a.m. on an active warrant that had been issued for him. The alleged assault took place on Feb. 26 at his home, police said.
