TIVERTON — A man who allegedly robbed the Cumberland Farms convenience store at 1860 Main Road at gunpoint last Saturday morning, March 9, about 2:50 p.m. remains at large, police said late Thursday morning.

Police are seeking help identifying the man.

Tiverton Police Department Captain Patrick Jones said the department received a 911 call Saturday afternoon from the store clerk, who said an armed robbery had just occurred.

The clerk told police that the man entered the store, showed a “black handgun,” and demanded money from the register. The clerk gave the man approximately $45 in cash, and the suspect then fled the store on foot.

Police who arrived conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the individual.

Police said the clerk described the suspect as a white male of medium build about 20 -29 years old, clean shaven, and approximately 5’10″ to 6’1″ in height. He was described as wearing sunglasses, a hat, and a zip-up green hoodie sweatshirt.

Captain Jones said another robbery on Sunday, Jan. 20 about 12:41 p.m. in the drive-through lane at the Sip and Dip Donut outlet at 499 Main Road in Tiverton is “believed to be unrelated. ” That incident involved a “threat of a firearm,” Captain Jones said.

The most recent case is being investigated by Tiverton detectives.  Anyone with any information is asked to call Tiverton Detectives at (401) 625-6716. “Don’t approach, just be the best witness you can be, and call police, “Captain Jones said.
