Police are seeking help identifying the man.
Tiverton Police Department Captain Patrick Jones said the department received a 911 call Saturday afternoon from the store clerk, who said an armed robbery had just occurred.
The clerk told police that the man entered the store, showed a “black handgun,” and demanded money from the register. The clerk gave the man approximately $45 in cash, and the suspect then fled the store on foot.
Police who arrived conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the individual.
Police said the clerk described the suspect as a white male of medium build about 20 -29 years old, clean shaven, and approximately 5’10″ to 6’1″ in height. He was described as wearing sunglasses, a hat, and a zip-up green hoodie sweatshirt.
Captain Jones said another robbery on Sunday, Jan. 20 about 12:41 p.m. in the drive-through lane at the Sip and Dip Donut outlet at 499 Main Road in Tiverton is “believed to be unrelated. ” That incident involved a “threat of a firearm,” Captain Jones said.
