PORTSMOUTH — Here are some highlights from the Portsmouth police log from over the past week.
Thursday, March 20
Jalen D. O’Loughlin, 20, of 57 Beacon St., Apt. 2, Middletown, was charged with making threatening and harassing phone calls and simple assault and battery at about 4:20 p.m. Police made the arrest after responding to a Slate Lane home for a harassment complaint. Police said Mr. O’Loughlin is also under investigation by Newport police for an alleged felony assault involving a bat.
David P. McCollum, Jr., 36, of 36 Narragansett Boulevard, was charged with domestic assault after police responded to the home around 8:20 p.m. for a report of a disturbance. Mr. McCollum’s father told police his son had assaulted another family member who lived in the house and had threatened to burn the house down. Police said they found a jar of marijuana on the floor next to Mr. McCollum’s bed in plain view.
Saturday, March 22
Kimberly F. Clegg, 21, of 22 Palmer Ave., Tiverton, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense) after the car she was driving was pulled over for operatically erratically at about 11:45 p.m. on West Main Road. Police said they found two open mini bottles of vodka in the car.
Sarah E. Mortimer, 24, of 247 Sakonnet Drive, was charged with domestic assault after police responded to the area of 965 Anthony Road around 9:15 a.m. for a report of a female passed out in her vehicle. Police said Ms. Mortimer was in the driver’s seat and appeared to be disoriented and distraught. While police were investigating, Ms. Mortimer’s live-in boyfriend ran to the scene, saying he was concerned for her safety. Police determined that the pair had been involved in a physical confrontation earlier over Ms. Mortimer’s use of a “duster” — aerosol cans of Dust Destroyer that they both would inhale, police said. Several used “duster” cans as well as four unopened cans were found in the car, according to police.
Sunday, March 23
Emily J. Parma, 23, of 31 Seneca Road, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense) after her car was stopped on East Main Road near Oliveira Way around 12:40 a.m. Police said they pulled the car over because it was drifting over the white fog line.
