A person jogging along the East Bay Bike Path called police on Monday, April 7, at about 6 p.m. after noticing a man sitting near the path, holding a dog.
Police responded to the area of the path between Sowams Road and New Meadow, and located the subject, a 47 year-old Barrington resident. The man appeared to be heavily intoxicated. He reportedly told police that he was walking back from a liquor store in Warren when he realized he was having trouble standing up.
The officer took custody of the man’s dog and transported it back to the station, where the subject’s brother later picked it up.
The intoxicated individual was transported to the hospital for detox by Barrington rescue personnel. He was not charged.
