Police have determined that a man spotted sprinting away from a County Road home Sunday night definitely wasn’t trying to break-in.
He was chasing his dog.
The homeowners contacted police just after 8:30 p.m. to report a man running away from their front porch. Police scowered the area for signs of the man but no one was located.
On Monday, Police Chief John LaCross said it would be premature to state that incident had anything to do with a rash of recent home break-ins where residents have reported everything from strangers at the back door to one woman who arrived home and reportedly found a strange man in her kitchen.
He was right.
The chief said a follow-up investigation revealed the incident stemmed from two neighbors looking for their loose dog. The neighbor reportedly spotted his dog on the County Road home’s porch though the pooch ran off before the man could reach him.
The residents, as it turns out, only saw a man running away from his porch. They didn’t know the man was chasing a dog.
