Barrington police were kept busy on Wednesday, May 7, handling a number of calls, including one for a gun discovered on Adelaide Avenue.
According to the police report, a landscaper was digging holes to install a fence at an Adelaide Avenue home at about 11:45 a.m. when he unearthed a handgun. The small caliber pistol was badly rusted over.
Two hours later, a 25 year-old Barrington resident stopped into the station to report a possible fraud case. The man said he purchased a Sega video game on Amazon.com but when it arrived in the mail the game was clearly a fake. He said he wanted to file the incident with police for documenting purposes. He also contacted officials at Amazon.com, who reportedly said they would refund his money immediately.
At 3 p.m., police were called to a Maple Avenue residence to handle a complaint. The man at the home told officers that he had parked his car — a 1998 Buick — on the side of the road and later discovered that paint had been splattered on the side of the vehicle and its windows. The man said state crews had been painting traffic lines on Maple Avenue the prior night.
