Barrington boathouse suspected as possible drinking spot

A boathouse perched overlooking Barrington Harbor may have been the site of some recent drinking parties, said the owner of the property.

Barrington police received a phone call from the owner of the historic boathouse on Saturday morning, June 7. According to the report, the owner told police that it appeared someone had been at the boathouse — it is currently vacant and is listed for sale — and possibly using it as a “drinking area.”

The owner reportedly told officers that she had left some outdoor chairs stacked up, but upon a recent visit noticed that the chairs had been moved. She also found some empty drink containers.

Police are still investigating.

The 600 square-foot boathouse is for sale for $729,000, according to zillow.com. The home carries a historic plaque from the Barrington Preservation Society.
