Four Barrington men are facing underage possession of alcohol charges after an incident on Saturday night, June 14.

Barrington police were alerted to a car parked behind the Barrington Presbyterian Church at about 8:30 p.m. on June 14. An officer stopped into the lot and checked out the car. He then took a walk along some of the paths that lead from the lot into the woods surrounding Tiffany Pond, an area known for hosting illicit underage drinking parties.

He eventually located a group of four men — Jacob Simons, 19, Austin Reed, 18, Aaron Muccino, 19, and Matthew Roberts, 19, all Barrington residents. Police said the group had some beer, wine and liquor.

The men reportedly took ownership of the drinks and police charged them with possession of an alcoholic beverage. All four men reportedly cooperated with officers during the incident.

Barrington Police Chief John LaCross credited his officers for the diligent work and said that while this incident appeared to be minor, it could have grown into a larger, possibly dangerous, situation.
