Barrington police are investigating two recent incidents — one involving a door that had been pushed in, and a second that involved a possible break-in suspect riding a bike late at night.
A Walter Street resident called police on Saturday, July 12 to report a damaged door at the home. The woman is renting the property and said she noticed the door between the garage and the house had been smashed in. She said she noticed the damage a day earlier.
Later that night, at about 11:40 p.m., a police officer on routine patrol noticed a young man riding a bicycle in the area of Upland Way and Lincoln Avenue. The officer said that once the man noticed the cruiser he steered the bike off the road, crashing it. The man then reportedly fled the area on foot. Police searched for the individual but could not find him.
Police have been investigating a series of house break-ins and larcenies from motor vehicles. Many of the incidents have occurred during the overnight hours.
