An accident involving a town recycling truck left one woman trapped in her car for several minutes while rescue crews tried to separate the two vehicles wedged together at the passenger side door. the woman was not injured in the accident.
The truck was stopped on Wood Street picking up recycling when a green Chevy Malibu pulled up alongside and parked immediately in the path of the stopped truck, according to a Bristol Police report. The driver of the green car put the vehicle and park and got out at the same time the recycling truck was preparing to pull away from the curb.

A Bristol Auto Body tow truck arrived and ripped the car off the truck’s lug nuts, leaving large holes in the side of the car. The car’s front passenger side tire was also flattened in the accident.
The driver of the recycling truck told police he did not see the car park directly in his path because it was in his blind spot. The car’s driver said he was trying to flag the recycling truck down to ask for directions.
“It was crazy,” said John Nito, who lives in the neighborhood and witnessed the accident. “The green car pulled up right beside the truck and hit the truck. The guy said he wanted directions to Main Street.”Both the driver of the truck and the passenger in the car, however, said the green car was parked and the recycling truck collided with the door when it started to pull away from the curb. No one was injured in the crash.
