Barrington police are investigating a situation that occurred on the East Bay Bike Path on Friday, Nov. 7.

According to police, a 15-year-old Barrington girl was jogging west on the path near the intersection with Middle Highway at about 4 p.m. when two middle-aged men riding bikes blocked the path and confronted her.

The girl later told police that one man said, “Hey baby,” to her and the other said some type of profanity. She said they did not touch her, and she was able to get away shortly after the confrontation.

Once she made it home, she and her father called police to report the incident. She reportedly described one of the men as being hispanic, standing about six feet tall and wearing a black jacket and jeans. She said the other man was African American, stood about six-foot-two, wore a black jacket and had a thin, “whispy” mustache.

She said the men were carrying tackle boxes and may have been on their way to go fishing.

Officers scoured the area searching for the men and alerted surrounding departments, but the suspects were not located.

“As we continue to look for these men, any resident that sees people matching this description should give us a call,” said Barrington Police Chief John LaCross.

The confidential police tip line is 437-3933.
