Seekonk bank robbers caught in Rhode Island

NORTH SCITUATE — The Rhode Island State Police along with its counterparts from Seekonk, Pawtucket and the United States Marshals apprehended the suspect in a recent robbery of a Webster Bank branch in Seekonk.

The State Police announced Saturday evening, Nov. 22, that earlier the same day Derik M. DeCosta, 39, formerly of 71 Daggett Ave., Pawtucket, was arrested as a Fugitive from Justice from Massachusetts for Armed Bank Robbery.

Mr. DeCosta will be presented on Monday, Nov. 24, as a Fugitive from Justice in Sixth Division District Court, Garrahy Judicial Complex, One Dorrance Plaza, Providence.

On Monday, Nov. 17, a bank robbery was reported at the Webster Bank branch located at 1519 Newman Ave., Seekonk. Two armed suspects displayed handguns and robbed the bank of an undisclosed amount of money. Mr. DeCosta was identified as one of the men allegedly responsible for the robbery.

The second suspect, Michael DiRocco, 32, of 39 Drowne St., Apartment 2, Cranston, was arrested earlier this week by members of the Cranston Police Department.
