Police charged Andrew Peters, 22, of Armada, Mich., with domestic-disorderly conduct and alteration of marks of identification on a firearm.

Police received a message from someone on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at about 11 p.m. alerting them to a possible domestic situation involving a person from Michigan with gun at a Maple Avenue residence.

Officers scoured Maple Avenue and eventually located two vehicles bearing Michigan plates. As they approached the residence, officers could allegedly hear a man shouting from inside the home.

Police entered the residence through a side door and located a man, a woman and two dogs. Officers spoke with the parties; the woman said there had been an argument but it was only verbal. She said she was packing her things and planned to leave the residence that night.

Police also allegedly found a black handgun on the bedroom floor. Mr. Peters reportedly told police the gun had been inside a safe and when he opened the safe to retrieve paperwork that night he had left the gun on the floor. Police said Mr. Peters told them he had not been brandishing the gun that evening.

Police also allegedly found five other guns — four more pistols and a shotgun. One of the firearms’ serial numbers had allegedly been scratched off, resulting in the charge.
