A Roger Williams University student has been banned from campus and charged with multiple crimes after allegedly breaking into a campus apartment twice and assaulting two women.
Michael S. Rolla, 20, of 18 Richmond Hill Road, Greenwich, Conn., is charged with domestic assault, domestic breaking and entering and vandalism after he allegedly barged into his ex-girlfriend’s campus apartment because she was playing music too loudly.
Police were called to the Almeida Court apartments at about 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 7. Two female students told officers that Mr. Rolla barged into their apartment through the front door, shoved one of the women then threw a stereo and speakers onto the floor before returning to his apartment down the hall. After locking the door, the women resumed playing music.
About 10 minutes later, Mr. Rolla walked into the living room through the women’s bedroom door, the victims told police. He reportedly broke into the bedroom through a window, breaking the window frame in the process. Mr. Rolla again threw the stereo to the floor, breaking it, and shoved one of the women into a wall before leaving through the front door.
Officers went to Mr. Rolla’s apartment in the same building, finding him asleep in his bed. He confirmed he entered his ex-girlfriend’s apartment twice – the second time through the bedroom window – “because he was angry about the music volume,” according to reports. He also admitted to pushing the two women, saying he did it because he was “stressed out,” reports indicate.
Mr. Rolla was arrested without incident and issued a no trespass order by the campus police.
