A Warren man came in to police headquarters to report embezzlement.
Police got a call just before 2:30 p.m. regarding a peacock on Market Street. The animal control officer soon located the exotic bird’s owner, a few yards as the crow flies from where it was found.
Police got a call that a panhandler was standing in the middle of Main Street.
In other street standing news, police got a call that a juvenile was doing the same thing (standing, not panhandling) on Metacom Avenue, 12 minutes later.
At 4:53 p.m., 20 minutes after the first panhandling call, police arrested Joseph George Peno, 46, of 13 Davis St., after getting a report that the panhandler was back i nthe middle of Main Street.
Police got a call about a “party” climbing through a window on Market Street.
Police got a call about a possible shoplifter on Metacom.
Tuesday, Dec. 23
A caller reported leaving a guitar case between two buildings on Water Street.
Wednesday, Dec. 24
A Seymour Street resident reported receiving threats.
A Sowamsett Avenue woman told police that she believed her ex-husband tried to enter her apartment, and a neighbor’s apartment, over the previous few days.
Virginia L. Rogers, 54, of Bristol, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police got a call at 7:26 p.m. from a person who witnessed a car strike two others on Cottage Street. Police noted that no cars had actually been struck.
A Union Street woman asked police to remove two unwanted men from her home. They obliged.
Thursday, Dec. 25
A caller reported hearing a crash on Main Street early in the morning. No word on whether a red sleigh and team of deer were seen leaving the scene, but whoever caused it took out a pedestrian crossing sign.
A Davis Street woman complained that a neighbor took items from her home.
A Market Street resident’s tires were reported slashed.
Friday, Dec. 26
A Barton Avenue man informed police that his missing license plate was located by Westport police on a car in that town.
A Metacom Avenue resident reported receiving harassing telephone calls.
Police got a call about “road rage” on Schoolhouse Road.
Saturday, Dec. 27
Possible gunfire was reported on Main Street.
A caller reported a gun-toting man walking down Market Street. Police said the man, who was wearing camouflage and carried a rifle, was a “known” hunter.
An open burning complaint came in from Arlington Avenue.
Sunday, Dec. 28
Items were reported stolen from a car on Child Street.
Someone found a syringe on Hope Street.
Police got a call about a man yelling on Third Street.
