Warren police logs: Phone, text harassment calls on the rise

Monday, Jan. 5

Natu Roberts, 18, of 648 Main St., was charged with vandalism/malicious injury to property and disorderly conduct, after police were called about a disturbance at his home.

Douglas E. Kidd, 43, of 385 Metacom Ave., Apt. 1R, was charged with violating a no contact order after a woman reported receiving multiple text messages from him, despite a no contact order.

Police directed traffic at 10:21 a.m. as approximately tow trucks exited the St. Mary of the Bay Church parking lot and headed south on Main Street. The trucks were part of a procession for an East Providence tow truck driver who had passed away.

A Maple Road resident reported a missing black lab, but the dog was located 10 minutes later.

A boy, 17, was charged with disorderly conduct and vandalism/malicious injury to property after staff at a Market Street building called about an unruly student who broke a window.

Cox Cable, Verizon and National Grid crews were called to Columbus Way at 3:14 p.m. after limbs took down utility wires.

A Child Street woman called police to report a fight with her boyfriend.

Tuesday, Jan. 6

A Main Street resident complained that a neighbor took money from him. Police determine that that was a shade of the truth; the man had loaned money to a neighbor, who had not yet paid him back.

Someone on Market Street complained that the upstairs neighbors were too noisy. Police checked it out and found the residents watching TV; it wasn’t too loud, the officer noted.

A police officer removed a castoff Christmas tree from Metacom Avenue and Overhill Road.

Wednesday, Jan. 7

Fire crews checked out a transformer fire on Shipyard Lane.

A Campbell Street man complained that neighbors were throwing trash into his yard.

omeone on Market Street complained that the upstairs neighbors were too noisy.

Thursday, Jan. 8

Police got a call that a car on Vernon Street was stuck on the ice. When they arrived, it was gone.

A caller complained that a dog was sitting on a porch at Main and Maple streets.

A Haile Street woman complained of a theft from her home. What was stolen was not noted.

Friday, Jan. 9

Police got a call about people fighting in the middle of Main Street. The call came in just before 4 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 10

A Croade Street woman asked that police remove her boyfriend.

Police got a call about two suspicious men on the bike path.

Children were playing on thin ice off Market Street, police were told by several callers.

Police were called to Main Street for “matter regarding chicken.”

Sunday, Jan. 11

A dog bite call came in from the Harbor Animal Hospital on Market Street.

A bicyclist was struck by a car while riding down Child Street at 3:48 p.m. He refused treatment.

A woman came in to HQ to report receiving harassing phone calls.
