Woman dies following East Providence car accident

EAST PROVIDENCE — The driver involved in a roll-over car accident at the intersection of Wampanoag Trail and Boyd Avenue in city mid-day Wednesday, Jan. 14, has died.

City resident Leslie Logan, 63, died of injuries she suffered after being trapped inside the vehicle after it overturned on the sidewalk.

East Providence Firefighters feverishly attempted to remove Ms. Logan from the vehicle, which rolled over some time around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

East Providence Police officers were investigating the scene, which included skid marks that stretched back west on Wampanoag Trail. Ms. Logan’s car, a late model mini van, came to rest on the driver’s side down.

It took firefighters approximately 20 minutes to cut through the roof of the car to reach the victim. She was rushed to Rhode Island where she was pronounced dead.

Ms. Logan was a former East Providence school teacher, retiring in 2008. A city native, she graduated EPHS in the Class of 1969.
