At 5:17 p.m., a caller reported children skating on Watuppa Pond. Tiverton police called Fall River pollce, who said it’s in Westport’s jurisdiction. Tiverton police called Westport police, who said they weren’t sure if it was in Fall River’s or Westport’s jurisdiction. Tiverton police told both Fall River police and Westport police that either way it’s not in Tiverton’s jurisdiction, that a record is being kept of the Tiverton calls, and that, “someone needs to go check on the kids on the ice.” Tiverton dispatch then notified a Tiverton cruiser as well.
Monday, Jan. 5
At 3:40 p.m., Nicholas Lake, 21, of Fall River, was charged with felony receiving stolen goods.
Michael M. Wagner, 27, of Fall River, was charged at 8:42 p.m. with possession of a scheduled drug, driving while in possession of a scheduled drug, and driving with a suspended license.
At 8:48 p.m., Destiny Robinson, 21, of 70 Briggs Lane, Tiverton, was charged under a bench warrant from the 3rd District Court.
Friday, Jan. 2
At 2:52 p.m., a UPS driver flagged down an officer to warn of black ice at the downhill end of Quaker Avenue, possibly caused by pumping from a location uphill. The Department of Public Works was notified.
At 4:15 p.m., a Fish Road resident walked into the police station to report someone had possibly tampered with her mail.
A Stafford Road business reported at 4:33 p.m. having been broken into sometime within the past two days.
A resident reported the theft of a cell phone, range finder, a camera, hunting clothes, scent, and 12 gauge bird shot. The cell phone could not be pinged because it had been turned off.
A caller at 7:42 p.m. reported that a truck had driven off the cliff at the end of Hooper Street. There were no injuries, but a heavy wrecker was sent to recover the vehicle.
Saturday, Jan. 3
At 1:28 a.m. an alarm went off in the school superintendent’s office, but a police check revealed no problems.
A caller reported at 2:02 p.m. that someone against whom he has a no contact order keeps driving back and forth in front of his house.
At 3:25 p.m., a Highland Road resident reported a Don’t Mall Tiverton sign had been stolen from her front yard within the last hour and a half.
At 11:53 p.m., a resident using a smoke machine in a multi-unit building set off a smoke alarm.
Sunday, Jan. 4
A Seapowet area resident called to report hunting close to homes, but was told that Sunday hunting is permitted nearby on state property.
At 10:18 a.m., James Maratonas IV, 40, of 287 State Avenue, Tiverton, was charged under a Superior Court bench warrant.
Jonathan Patin, 36, of 870 Brayton Road, Tiverton, turned himself in to police at 6:18 p.m. and was charged with domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct.
At 7:20 p.m., a neighbor called to report sewage being pumped into the street from a nearby business “and it stinks.” The business was contacted immediately.
Monday, Jan 5
At 6:10 p.m., a caller reported being scammed on a truck obtained from a Craigslist ad.
Tuesday, Jan. 6
At 9:47 a.m., a caller reported that the new Tiverton library had been vandalized.
A child playing with a phone called the police station at 5:40 p.m. , but did not say anything.
A Fall River man, Douglas R. Motta, 37, was charged at 3:21 p.m. with possession of marijuana (one ounce or less, by someone 18 years old or older), and with driving with an invalid license.
Wednesday, Jan. 7
Andrew Teixeira, 31, of 43 Margaret Street, Tiverton, was charged at 10:57 a.m. with possession of a scheduled drug, driving while in possession of a scheduled drug, misdemeanor receiving stolen goods, possession of marijuana (one ounce or less by someone 18 years old or older), and with driving with an invalid license.
A caller at 4:50 p.m. said a neighbor had left a dog outside in the cold, and the dog was barking. The owner was notified and took the dog in.
At 5:39 p.m., a dog was spotted outside a house. The owner was contacted by police and took the dog in.
Bryan Lasso, 44, of 91 Pottersville Road, Little Compton, was charged at 4:55 p.m. with simple assault and disorderly conduct in connection with a possible road rage incident.
At 8:50 p.m., an alarm in a house on Crandall Road went off. The owner was out-of-town and had set the alarm to go off when the inside temperature became too cold. The problem was with the sensor, and the alarm company reset the alarm until the unit could be repaired.
Thursday, Jan. 8
Christie Mataronas, 30, of Bourne Mill Apartments, 1 Mill Street, Tiverton, was charged at 2:51 p.m. with disorderly conduct.
At 8:52 p.m., six bags of used roofing materials were discovered to have been dumped on Old Bulgarmarsh Road. The Department of Public Works was notified.
Friday, Jan. 9
At 10:01 a.m., youths were spotted skating on Sawdy Pond. Westport police were advised.
