EAST PROVIDENCE — Noted local eatery, Sparky’s Coney Island Systems on Taunton Avenue, fell victim to a robbery in the early morning hours of Thursday, Jan. 29.
According to the report of East Providence Police Detective Corporal Chris Ellinwood, the establishment was broken into some time between when it closed for business at approximately 2 a.m. Thursday and when employees returned to reopen for business at around 6:50 a.m.
Some $100 in cash and an undetermined amount of change was taken. Det. Ellinwood said at the moment there are no suspects.
The perpetrator or perpetrators used an unidentified object to smash through the glass front door of the restaurant. Nothing besides the money was taken. The suspect or suspects went immediately for the cash register and a change box.
