SEEKONK —Seekonk Police are seeking the driver in a fatal hit-and-run car accident.
On Friday, Jan. 30, at approximately 10:03 p.m., Seekonk Police and Fire personnel were notified of an injured person in the 500 block of Arcade Avenue.
The area is roughly between the Seekonk High School and Taunton Avenue (Rt. 44). Shortly after arrival, it became apparent a 51-year-old woman (pedestrian) had been struck by a vehicle by the side of the roadway. The striking vehicle left the scene.
It is believed the vehicle traveled south on Arcade Avenue toward Taunton Avenue. It most likely has front end damage which may include damage to the passenger-side headlight assembly.
The woman was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The Seekonk Police and the Massachusetts State Police are investigating the fatal crash.
