The Bristol Police Department wants you!

The department will be hosting a Citizen’s Police Academy beginning on March 24. The 10-week course is to give Bristol residents a better understanding of the mission and operations of the department so they may better understand what the police force is all about, according to a department release.

The academy will cover such topics as department structure, patrol procedures, dispatch operations, narcotics, search warrants, crime scene investigation, use of force, domestic violence, traffic enforcement, DUI investigation, duties of the school resource officer, juvenile crime and the court system.

The academy is free of cost and open to all Bristol residents over the age of 18. It is scheduled for Tuesdays, 7-9 p.m. at the Bristol Police headquarters on Metacom Avenue. Applications are available at the Bristol Police Department or at www.bristolri.us/police. All completed applications must be submitted to Bristol Police Headquarters by Friday, March 20.

For more information, contact Lt. James A. Annis (evenings) at 401-253-6900.
