The following report is compiled from the Bristol Police Department call log for the week of Sept. 9-15, 2013:
Monday, Sept. 9
A business on Hope Street reported that cash was missing from the register at 12:03 p.m.
A Hope Street caller reported that a neighbor had left a sliding door open at their home.
An employee of the Azorian Butcher Shop reported getting a call about the National Grid scam.
Bristol rescue transported a disoriented person to the hospital from Hope Street.
A Jennifer Drive resident called about a barking dog in the area of Narrows Road and Ursula Drive.
A nurse at Kent Hospital reported that a 7-year-old boy from Evelyn Drive was bit on the cheek by a dog, causing abrasions.
Tuesday, Sept. 10
A caller wished to speak to a police officer about a car that made a lot of smoke on Acacia Road.
A Pearse Avenue resident reported that a neighbor was building a fence on his property.
Wednesday, Sept. 11
Police responded to an area of Branford Street for a report of a male and female arguing.
A caller reported there was vandalism to a tree on Bay View Avenue.
A Malden Street resident reported she was getting threats from her ex-boyfriend.
Police responded to an area of Bradford Street for a report of a female yelling at 4 a.m. Officers observed Meryl McGaw, 30, of Tiverton, yelling at a male. She allegedly appeared unsteady on her feet and was highly intoxicated. Bristol Rescue was called to evaluate Ms. McGaw due to her level of intoxication. However, she became combative, allegedly shouting at officers and spitting in their faces. She continued to resist arrest and officers finally used pepper spray to subdue her. Ms. McGaw was charged with simple assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
Animal control responded to Bristol Fire Department headquarters to remove an “expired” woodchuck.
A Tower Street resident reported that her daughter was taking her car without permission.
Firefighters responded to a home on Kickemuit Avenue for a grill fire.
Police responded to the DCYF building on Wood Street for a report of a female sleeping on the wall.
Thursday, Sept. 12
A Michael Drive resident reported his mailbox was vandalized.
A caller reported that he got a threat from his ex-girlfriend that she was enroute to his home to vandalize it.
Nasser Alkhaldi, 21, of 617 Hope St., reported he was robbed in his driveway the day before, on Sept. 11. He told police that he was walking home around 12:45 p.m. when he was assaulted by three men in his driveway. They allegedly took his money and his cell phone. He also showed police cuts on his hands. Mr. Alkhaldi told police that one of the men allegedly stabbed him in the thigh, but he did not see the knife. After investigating the incident, police determined that the robbery was fabricated. Officers reviewed video surveillance in the area, which did not support Mr. Alkhaldi’s statement. He was charged with a false report of a crime.
A Wall Street caller asked for police to help with an eviction. A tenant allegedly threatened to burn down the residence if evicted.
A Deer Run Road resident reported that a landscaper was blowing grass onto his property.
Friday, Sept. 13
Firefighters responded to a home on Mallory Court because of a faulty dehumidifier. There was heavy smoke coming from the basement and the home was evacuated.
Police investigated a pickup truck that had been parked on Burton Street for two weeks without license plates. The car had been abandoned.
Police were called to a home on Manchester Street to settle a disturbance between neighbors.
A caller reported that a male was sleeping in a grassy area of Metacom Avenue.
Police responded to an area of Union and High streets for a report of a male yelling and screaming.
A caller reported that a motorcycle was revving its engine at 10:35 p.m. on Wood Street.
A Sousa Street caller reported that a car was honking its horn at 10:37 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 14
Police responded to a loud house party at a Lincoln Avenue home at 2:11 a.m. Officers entered the home through the rear door after knocking, and saw three males run up the stairs to the second floor. When questioned, the males confirmed that the alcohol in the apartment was theirs. Cameron Robert Hanify, 20, of Worcester, Mass.; Connor A. O’Brien, 20, of Granby, Conn.; and Sean P. Miller, 20, of Fairfield, Conn., were all charged with underage possession and consumption of alcohol.
A Brookfarm Road resident reported a loud house party in the area at 12:07 a.m.
A caller spoke to police about possible illegal dumping near the North Burial Ground.
A Garfield Avenue resident called police to report a neighbor who was dumping water on her property.
Police responded to an area of Scott Lane for a report of a male, dressed in black, jumping fences.
Sunday, Sept. 15
Police were called to an area of Mt. Hope Bridge for a report of a male walking toward Portsmouth. He was a Roger Williams University student trying to get back to Bay Point Inn. Campus police was called to transport him.
A Shaws Lane resident reported an earlier burglary.
A Franklin Street resident reported that his neighbor’s car door was open when he got home.
Police responded to a home on Franca Drive for a report that a female was having trouble with her 17-year-old son.
