Vases worth $3,000 were stolen from Holy Angels recently.

For the second time in just more than a month, a thief or thieves stolen something from Holy Angels Church on Maple Avenue. On Tuesday, March 19, a church employee called Barrington police to report two vases stolen from the local parish.

According to the police report, the vases were stored in the church basement, but when an official with the church went to retrieve them, they were missing. The vases are valued at $3,000.

On Friday, Feb. 15, Barrington police responded to the Maple Avenue church after someone took cash from an office inside the church. It was believed the money was stolen between 3 p.m. on Feb. 14 and 10 a.m. on Feb. 15. It was not known how much money was taken, because most of the cash was contained inside donation envelopes given by parishioners at a recent Mass.

Police reportedly found pry marks on a door at the church shortly after the Feb. 15 incident. It was not clear whether there was any sign of forced entry during the more recent burglary.

Barrington has been hit by a recent rash of break-ins … most of the locations targeted have been residences.

Anyone with any information should call the police tip line at 437-3933.
