Barrington police are looking for the owners of a dog found dead on the White Church Bridge last week. An officer reportedly found the small, brown dog on the bridge at about 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20.
The officer moved the animal to the side of the road where it was later picked up by animal control. The dog weighs about 10 pounds and looks like a Yorkshire terrier.
A nearby resident previously told police she offered the dog food but she wasn’t the dog’s owner. She said the animal scurried away from her when she tried to pick it up.
Police took the dog to the East Providence Animal Shelter where it is awaiting an owner to claim its remains. No one had contacted the department regarding a missing dog, as of Monday morning.
