Barrington police responded to a section of the East Bay Bike Path near North Lake Drive on Friday, May 2, at 11 a.m. for a report of an intoxicated man who had fallen off his bicycle. The officer noticed the man on the ground waving; he had a cut on his face and could not get onto his feet.
The man, a 51 year-old East Providence resident, reportedly told the officer that he had gone fishing and consumed a pint of alcohol. The officer also found a half-full bottle of vodka in the man’s possession, as well as some medication.
Police helped the man to his feet and called for a rescue — the man was transported to the hospital for detox while police secured his bicycle and two fishing poles.
