EAST PROVIDENCE — East Providence Police made the first of what Detective Captain Richard Frazier said should be more arrests in the theft of a tug boat in city on June 3 of this year.

Richard A. Maisano, 48, of 311 Greenwich Ave., Warwick, was arrested by Providence Police and transferred into the custody of the EPPD Tuesday, July 22. Mr. Maisano was charged with one count of felony receiving stolen property, the tug boat.

Mr. Maisano, and possibly others, are alleged to have stolen the boat from its mooring at the Oyster House Marina then driving it about five miles south of its original location before running aground in Narragansett Bay off the coast of Sabin Point Park in the Riverside section of the city.

East Providence Police notified their counterparts in Providence about Mr. Maisano and his possible whereabouts, Capt. Frazier said. Mr. Maisano was spotted by a patrol getting off a bus in Providence at Kennedy Plaza Tuesday afternoon at about 1 p.m.

“We’re still investigating the case. We believe more arrests are imminent,” Capt. Frazier added. “Some people think they’re getting away with this, but they’re not. Just because an investigation takes a little while longer than we’d like doesn’t mean we’re going away.”
