NORTH SCITUATE — Members of the Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force arrested Bryan R. Lafreniere, 32, of 10 Bullocks Point Ave., Apartment 209, East Providence, for Possession of Child Pornography and Transfer of Child Pornography on Wednesday, July 30.
Mr. Lafreniere was scheduled to be arraigned on the aforementioned charges Wednesday in Sixth Division District Court, Garrahy Judicial Complex, One Dorrance Plaza, Providence, Rhode Island.
ICAC Task Force members recently initiated an undercover investigation of individuals trading images and videos of child pornography on the Internet. The Internet connection at 10 Bullocks Point Ave., Apartment 209, was identified as allegedly sharing videos and images of child pornography.
Early Wednesday, ICAC Task Force members executed a court-authorized search warrant at the East Providence residence. Task Force members identified child pornography on a computer within the residence and identified Mr. Lafreniere as the alleged owner of the computer and the images and videos of child pornography.
A person found guilty of Possession of Child Pornography may be subject to a fine of not more than $5,000, or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both. A person found guilty of Transfer of Child Pornography may be subject to a fine of not more than $5,000 or imprisoned not more than 15 years, or both.
