MDMA, an amphetamine known as “Molly.”
Michael J. Machado, 26, of 2 Bay St., Bristol, and Keith Joly, 26, of 13 Mulberry St., Warren, were both charged with possession of narcotics with intent to deliver in separate incidents last week.
Mr. Machado faces three counts of the felony charge after officers hunted him down in his black Suzuki while he was allegedly making drug deliveries throughout the town.
Officers spotted Mr. Machado’s car on Mt. Hope Avenue at about 3 p.m. on Nov. 6. He turned onto Wheeler Avenue before turning into the driveway of a Mt. Hope Avenue home (the driveway for which is on Wheeler Avenue). Officers approached the car and ordered Mr. Machado out, informing him they had an active search warrant for him and his car.
In his pocket, officers allegedly found a clear plastic bag containing seven smaller bags filled with more than 4 grams of cocaine. Mr. Machado was also allegedly carrying 85 oxycodone pills and six alprazolam pills, an anti-anxiety medication, along with $317 in cash.
Back at the Bristol Police station, Mr. Machado reportedly admitted to dealing drugs in town, telling police he had been selling cocaine in town for several months, and was on his way to deliver the drug when police stopped him. While his cell phone continually received calls and text messages, Mr. Machado also admitted to selling prescription drugs around town, according to reports.
Police booked Mr. Machado and delivered him to the Adult Correctional Institutes, where he is being held without bail. He is due in Sixth District Court on Jan. 15.
In a separate incident the same day, Bristol Police were patrolling on Sherman Avenue when they reportedly witnessed a hand-to-hand drug deal in the street. Police watched the alleged dealer pull away in a red pickup truck and quickly pulled him over, identifying the driver as Keith Joly, 26, of 13 Mulberry St., Warren.
As officers began to search him, Mr. Joly reportedly told them “It’s in my pocket.” Officers allegedly found a pack of Newport cigarette containg two clear plastic bags of off-white, hard crystals identified as “molly,” an amphetamine similar to ecstasy.
At the station, Mr. Joly reportedly admitted to arranging the sale and that he had more sales planned that day. He was brought to the ACI and bail was set. He is next due in court on the felony charge on Jan. 9.
