The Barrington Police Department received a call about a suspicious person standing outside the school at about 8 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20.
Officers scoured the scene and Police Chief John LaCross eventually spotted someone matching the description of the suspect walking over the White Church Bridge, away from the school. The chief said the individual was wearing a green hoodie that concealed his face.
Chief LaCross stopped the boy on Martin Avenue and questioned him. The boy reportedly told police that he was sick and was walking home.
The chief said the boy’s appearance outside the school that morning and the fact that he was hiding his face with his hoodie had concerned officials.
Police later spoke with the boy’s father and released the teenager.
