EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence Police Department arrested two city men for burglary and other crimes.

Christopher Storti, 22, and Jason Veader, 24, were taken into custody Friday, Feb. 27, on multiple charges stemming from a recent breaking and entering case.

On Wednesday, February 25, patrol units responded to a Hazard Avenue address for a reported Breaking and Entering.

Their initial investigation located two sets of footprints left in the snow from the victim residence to another residence close by. Along with the footprints there were assorted medicine pills that had been stolen from the victim residence and the pills appeared to spill along the same route as the footprints. Also taken from the victim residence was a television and Wii Game station.

On Thursday, Feb. 26, EPPD Detectives followed up on the evidence located at the scene. The evidence brought them to 57 Hazard Ave. where Mr. Storti and Mr. Veader were located in the second floor apartment.

There had been a recent rash of larcenies from vehicles in the Hazard Avenue neighborhood and some evidence had been located that caused the East Providence Police to believe that Mr. Storti and Mr. Veader may be possibly connected with the crimes.

Once on scene, Detectives began to speak with both Mr. Storti and Mr. Veader and as the initial investigation began, evidence was located that appeared to link both men to the break and  enter. A search warrant was then signed and the investigation uncovered more evidence linking both men to the breaking and enter and larceny. Further investigation led to both suspects admitting to the breaking and entering as well as to the larcenies that had been occurring in the Hazard Avenue area.

Additionally, Mr. Veader was implicated in several recent violent domestic assaults on his girlfriend that had occurred the night of the breaking and entering incident as well as in the past month.

Mr. Storti was arraigned on the charges of: 1) Breaking & Entering; 2) Larceny; 3) Conspiracy

Mr. Veader was arraigned on the charges of: 1) Breaking & Entering; 2) Conspiracy; 3) Larceny; 4) Domestic Kidnapping; 5) Domestic Strangulation (two counts); 6) Domestic Simple Assault

Officers also recovered additional items that are suspected to have been stolen. The EPPD urges any residents in the Hazard Avenue vicinity to contact us if they had any items recently stolen from their vehicles.
