The Bristol Police Department responded to the following calls between Feb. 16 and Feb. 22
Monday, Feb. 16
Officers assisted with an accident at Bay View Avenue and Manchester Street. They called for a rescue when one of the accident victims complained of back pain, but the patient refused treatment.
Tuesday, Feb. 17
A car got stuck in the snow on Leila Jean Drive, blocking the road at 7:30 a.m. Police helped get the car back on its way.
A resident on Sousa Street called in suspicious activity when a car stopped in front of a neighbor’s home just after 10 a.m. and the driver sat in the car for a few minutes before approaching the home. Police found nothing suspicious with the salesman who had an appointment with the caller’s neighbor.
Police were called when two neighbors got into an argument over a parking space on Perry Street at 2:30 p.m. Officers quickly restored the peace.
A Sunnyside Avenue resident called police when their daughter took the family car without permission at 3 p.m. The teenage girl soon returned home with the car.
A customer at Sip-N-Dip on Hope Street called police to report a woman wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt “acting suspiciously” in the restaurant just after 6 p.m. Police found there to be nothing suspicious. The woman was keeping warm while waiting for the bus.
A resident reported a strong smell of natural gas at Bay View Avenue and High Street just before 10 p.m. National Grid responded.

Wednesday, Feb. 18
A representative of Midland Farms on Wood Street called police in attempts to prevent dogs from using the land around the minimart as a bathroom.
Thursday, Feb. 19
Fire Chief Robert Martin reported the traffic light outside Fire Department headquarters at Annawamscutt Drive and Metacom Avenue was not working properly. An officer watched several light cycles and found it to be in working order.
A broken pipe in the wall of Perry’s Nurseries on Meracom Avenue sent water into the building’s electrical system, causing a small fire.
Officers were called to assist with a possibly injured duck sitting on a stone wall at Hope and Washington streets. The bird must not have been too hurt. It flew away when an officer approached it.
A resident at Benjamin Church Manor received a notice claiming she’d won a sweepstakes. She turned the paperwork over to police to investigate the potential fraud.
A resident called police because a man was tampering with the utility lines at Wood and Union streets at 4:14 p.m. The man works for Full Channel Cable and was adjusting their lines.
Friday, Feb. 20
A man called police from Herreshoff Marina around 1 a.m. because a woman in a blue jacket was trying to get a ride from him. She was gone when officers arrived.
A resident on Michael Drive called at 10 a.m. to complain of cars parked on the road, creating a hazard. The cars were parked legally and there was no action required.
Another driver called police because turkeys were crossing the road, this time on Bay View Avenue just before 6 p.m. The police responded to three similar calls of birds crossing the road last week.
Saturday, Feb. 21
A resident on Hope Street reportedly left the dogs out for 4-5 hours Friday evening. The homeowner agreed to bring the dogs in.
A caller reported a suspicious vehicle had been parked at Reliable Pest Control on Francis Street for a couple days. Police investigated, finding the car was parked legally and there was no problem.
Animal Control Officers responded to several animal complaints throughout the day on Mulberry Road, Defiance Road, Cooke Street and at Mt. Hope Farm.
Sunday, Feb. 22
A group of kids was reportedly hanging out in front of the CVS on Metacom Avenue around 12:30 a.m. They moved on before officers arrived.
A resident on Roma Street was reportedly shoveling snow onto the road. He was advised to stop.
