A first grade student at Nayatt School in Barrington who was reported missing on Tuesday afternoon, March 3, was located at a friend’s house after an intense 20-minute search.

According to police, the young student walked home from Nayatt after school dismissed but was surprised to find that her house was locked and no one was there. The quick-thinking first-grader then decided to go over her friend’s house nearby.

Meanwhile, the girl’s grandmother who had been running late and missed the girl by just a few minutes grew nervous when the youngster did not show up. The woman then drove to the school and told the principal about the situation.

The principal quickly contacted police who responded to the area and began searching for the girl; school officials did the same.

After a few minutes passed, the mother of the first-grader’s friend called the school and told the office staff that the young student was safe and sound. Police checked the girl’s friend’s residence and found the missing girl, who was reportedly unfazed by the situation.
